Something I want to share more of this year is the behind the scenes of the gear I’m using. I get a lot of equipment questions from you all so my gear geek friends - this is for you! 😘

Why: Cuz they cute! 💁🏼‍♀️ Just kidding (although they are cute) I use these for longer runs in the city when I need the extra cushion and I’m going to be running for an hour or longer.

Why: it has all the pockets for all my trinkets! I love that it fits 2 water flasks in the front with the option for one down the back, it’s got a zippered back pocket for my jacket and front pockets for my phone, keys and SNACKS!

Why: The frame fits my face really well and these lenses are great when it’s not super sunny out but still indirectly bright. 😎

Thanks @bachrunner4646 for having me on the Nordic nation podcast to talk about a lot of things, but most importantly about why what we say, especially when it comes to bodies in sport, can have a powerful impact. I certainly don’t have all the answers and I’m learning here, too! But the point, I think, is that we’re learning. 🤍
To all of you out there having the hard conversations - about mental health, pressure, eating disorders, all of it…you’re awesome, keep talking and learning and feeling. ❤️

We hear a LOT about how much athletes do and how h We hear a LOT about how much athletes do and how hard they work. But I’m not sure we hear enough about the importance of rest and recovery! 
Every spring, I take AT LEAST a week completely off, and this year, I took two. Yep, I mean it - no training or anything that even remotely got my heart rate up. The only activity I did was walking down to the beach to watch the water. 😍 And I do this every. Single. Year. 
It’s part of how I protect both my body and my brain from burnout, injury or overtraining so I can come back ready to rock and roll. Resting now helps me stay excited about training all year long and race that far into the pain cave all winter long. 👊🏼

I’m not saying everyone necessarily needs this time off - you do you! - but I do think it’s important to show that even for professional athletes, slowing down, listening to your body and taking a break can be the best thing for you. 

Now, I’m just starting to get into my “do whatever the heck you want” phase! If I feel like playing tennis, taking a dance class, going for a run, biking, taking a yoga or Pilates class…then I will. If I feel like laying on the couch and texting my sister about the pros and cons of Bridgerton season two…then I’ll do that. 😏

Thanks @experiencelyric for being there for me in both the big training weeks AND supporting me when I’m taking care of myself and not training at all!
