About Jessie

Ever since I could walk, skiing has been a part of my life. My family loves being outdoors and active, so we joined the Minnesota Youth Ski League and skiing became a fun way to meet friends and have sledding parties afterwards. Gradually, skiing became a bigger part of my life as I joined the Stillwater High School ski team (Go Ponies!). I had the best teammates and coaches I could have asked for, and they helped me to realize how much I loved the sport.

I got involved with summer training programs, started training and racing with the CXC Elite team, and doing Junior National and National races. When I started making the international race trips to Junior World Championships, I found myself really enjoying the traveling and experience of seeing new places and racing around the world. But most of all, what I love about skiing is the chance to push my body to the limit, to be training outside on beautiful trails, and the chance to find something new about myself with every race.

So I decided after graduating High School to postpone a scholarship to Northern Michigan University and spend a year living as a full-time Nordic racer, to see if being a professional athlete was a career that could actually work for me and if I liked it once skiing was a job as well as a totally awesome hobby. Turns out I loved it! The 2010-11 season was a big breakthrough year for me, and being part of World Championships made me realize that I want to continue to be a part of international competitions. So I’ve made the decision to not attend University full time, and will instead be taking classes from Westminster College as a part of the US Ski Team.

In the spring of 2012, I got bumped up to the USST’s A team, and joined the Stratton Mountain School’s elite team, who I will be training with in Vermont in-between USST camps. Although I still call the Midwest home (doncha know!). I’m very excited to see where skiing will take me!

I owe a huge thank you to waaaaay to many people to list here, but especially my family and friends for always being there for me and the Twin Cities skiing community for all the support.
