First “Swedish Thanksgiving”

Happy Turkey Day everybody!

This is the first year I’ve been out of the US on Thanksgiving, and I realized how extremely thankful I am for skype and other forms of staying connected so I can see my family and friends back home!

After going around telling everyone “Happy Thanksgiving”, business went on as usual. We skied at the Hellner stadium here in Gallivare (yes, it’s named after Marcus, one of the best skiers in the world and a total celebrity since he’s from this town). We had fish, bean salad and wasa crackers for dinner which was good but definitely different than the traditional turkey, stuffing, mashed potato and pumpkin pie affair I’m used to!

We’re staying in these cabins at the Dundret hotel resort-type thing on the mountain, and from up here we are able to see beautiful sunsets and sunrises! One thing that’s been different for me is the sunrises because they take 3 times as long here…and then the sun is only up for 1/3 the time. But at least the sky is pink for a while.

Whenever we get a chance to live in cabins that make it feel more like home on the road and less of a hotel, I’m super psyched. We took advantage of our oven to bake cookies and banana bread. Om nom nom!

We are absolutely psyched on getting our new athlete training bibs for this World Cup season! It’s final and inevitable now…the first races are HAPPENING. THIS. WEEKEND. And we are so ready for them.
